Partner Up Power Up program resumes in Avery

Avery County Special Olympics has begun another 10-week Partner Up Power Up program of fitness and wellness for Fall 2021. There are 18 athletes from YME who are participating, along with students from Newland Elementary School, six coaches and a few other family members. The athletes will follow a weekly regimen of exercise and healthy habits as laid out in their Playbook. The playbook used by the entire SONC — which includes better than 7,000 athletes statewide, features a number of Avery/YME athletes on the back cover — a truly momentous event! Pictured left on the back row are Tim Minton, Mace Calloway, Tommy Stewart, Neal Graham, Josh Oaks and Audrey Rose. Pictured on the middle row are Charlie Varner, Marilyn Lane, Patty Topper, Jacqueline McCoury, Laken Benfield, Brenda Justice and Floyd McKinney, and pictured front is Jonathan Sellen. Pictured right are Mickey Daniels and coordinator Barb Holdcroft showing off the Avery athletes on the back cover of the playbook. As the season progresses, more information will be forthcoming regarding rewards and updates.
