Richard Keith Turbyfill, Sr., 52, of Columbia, S.C., will be lovingly remembered after passing away January 3, 2017, at home.
He was born June 14, 1964, in Banner Elk, N.C.
Keith proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed as a systems analyst with Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina. Keith was a big college football fan and particularly rooted for the University of Tennessee. He loved rock music and was an avid guitar player, video gamer, riding his Harley with friends and cooking a great feast.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard Calvin Turbyfill of Newland; grandparents Nellie Freeman, Ray and Francis Freeman, George Turbyfill and Anna Belle Frye.
Surviving are his grandmother Edna Lane Turbyfill of Newland; mother Barbara Hunter and husband Eugene Hunter of Johnson City, Tennessee; his adult children Richard Keith Turbyfill Jr. and Kayte Turbyfill of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren; sister Melanie Burton of Boone; niece Audrey Burton; and nephew Patrick Burton; many extended family members and several close friends and coworkers.
In honor of his wishes, a private memorial service will be conducted graveside at a later date in Newland.
