Thanksgiving at Feeding Avery Families

Bob Michaud collects food as part of Feeding Avery Families’ weekly distribution on Friday, Nov. 13. Aside from donning fancy pilgrim hats, FAF has been busy distributing food to those in the community who are food insecure. The previous week, FAF served 205 families with 267 food boxes. Additionally, FAF has received several generous grants from community organizations. The High Country Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the AMY Wellness Foundation, awarded FAF a $50,000 grant to purchase a van for the nonprofit’s mobile service program. The Dogwood Health Trust awarded FAF a $5,200 grant for a new program to distribute personal hygiene products at the community pantries. FAF will continue distributing turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving, but distribution will not take place on holiday weeks.
