Linville Central Rescue Squad made a pair of swift water rescues from the Lower Creek Falls area following heavy rain, including the retrieval of a family from Lower Creek Falls last week after a flash flood stranded a family on the bank and two children stuck in the middle of the falls. “Water will be funneled into a smaller area, and then suddenly the volume increases dramatically and then in doing so you have got a lot of water in a very small area, and it just becomes unswimmable,” Kyle Kitchin with LCRS told media regarding the rescue. The group also held swift water rescue training on Saturday, July 25, for volunteers and members of law enforcement.
