Former Lowes Foods complex to change hands

The former Lowes Foods complex in Newland is set to change owners after an online auction. The auction, via Iron Horse Auction Company, was won with a winning bid of $554,000 by an anonymous bidder with the handle “onsitebidder13.” The bidding closed on Sept. 24 after more than 100 bids on the property. The 7.5-acre property includes the entire shopping center and sections of Riverwalk Park in Newland. The auction company and the town could not reveal the identity of the winning bidder.
