Crawford receives ACES Scholarship

Avery High Senior Alyssa Crawford was selected as a recipient of Appalachian State University’s ACES Scholarship. ACES is a four-year scholar program for future teachers focusing on mentoring, leadership, service and professional development. Appalachian Community of Education Scholars (ACES) is a program that promotes teacher leadership. Members are active participants and leaders within the Appalachian Educators Club, in addition to a wide variety of campus activities. The community also provides a support network for freshman educators that begins with early move-in and our Freshman Retreat. The ACES program provides a sense of camaraderie for future educators that promotes a passion for teaching. ACES students participate in service projects and unique professional development opportunities. Crawford will be attending Appalachian State University this fall, where she plans on majoring in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Brian Crawford of Lenoir and Angela Crawford of Beech Mountain.
