LL registration

Owen Ward throws to home during Little League All-Star game action in 2019. The league is currently accepting registrations in hopes of hosting a local league season in late spring/early summer.

NEWLAND — As the ramifications of COVID-19 impact sports of all varieties and levels across the globe, locally Avery County Little League is holding out hope of hosting a season this year, making initial preparations for registration of its players in anticipation of a potential late spring or early summer season on the diamond.

The organization posted on social media that it is continuing to accept registrations that are submitted online, by mail or via email.

For players to register, the league website link is located by clicking to acll.teamapp.com/documents, or the applications can be sent by mail to Avery County Little League, P.O. Box 1618, Newland, NC 28657, or electronically to (828) 387-5236.

“With the season being pushed back it is crucial we get forms sent to us as soon as possible so we can be prepared when the time comes,” the post explained. Families are not asked to send money, only the completed forms, as registration fees will not be collected until the time when practices begin.

“If the season gets cancelled completely we would issue refunds to those that have already registered,” the league added. “As information is sent to us we will continue to share it with you, and please feel free to visit www.littleleague.org to read the information for yourself.”
