Church of the Savior Quilters wrap up 21st year

Church of the Savior Quilters in Newland have completed 21 years of making quilts to donate to the community. This year the quilters distributed 51 quilts through the Avery County Health Department, WIC, Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Life Care Center of Banner Elk, The Heritage of Sugar Mountain, Reaching Avery Ministry and Cranberry House. The quilters meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from May to October. Supplies are provided and all quilters are invited. The quilts were blessed on Oct. 13 at the church.
