During the Avery County Board of Education meeting on July 14, Rob Johnson of Boomerang Design gave an update on the high school construction project. Johnson reported that the expected completion date is now scheduled for Spring of 2021. Johnson noted challenges related to soil nailing, weather and needed infrastructure as factors that have delayed the project. While a COVID-19-related labor shortage and a delay in the availability of insulated concrete walls were also a factor, Johnson said it has not been as detrimental to the project as predicted.
