Independence events dot Avery landscape

Pictured clockwise, from top left: Lloyd Ollis pilots an Avery Shrine Club mini-train at the Banner Elk Fourth of July Parade; Riley Jennings and Halle Ollis carry the American flag down the street as they lead the 2019 Minneapolis Independence Day Parade on July 6; a line of fire engines lead the way through downtown Newland during the town's Independence Day Parade on Saturday, July 6; and the elusive Bigfoot shows his patriotic side in riding a tractor through downtown Plumtree during the town's Fourth of July Parade.

Avery County celebrated the Fourth of July in style, with parades and events in communities across the area.

See inside this week's print edition of The AJT and online at www.averyjournal.com for more images from parades and celebrations of America's Birthday from all around Avery.
