Assistant Director

AppalCART, the public transportation authority serving the Town of Boone, Appalachian State University, and Watauga County, is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director. AppalCART offers fixed route and demand response public transportation services. The transit system provides almost 2 million rides per year with a fleet of 40 vehicles. The Assistant Director must professionally and effectively develop, train, mentor, and coach our staff while accomplishing organizational goals, progressively planning for the future, and ensuring high quality transportation services are provided to our customers. A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, supervisory experience, and two years of experience in public transportation are required. The Assistant Director provides leadership in the daily management of the Shop Staff and Operations Unit consisting of fixed routes, demand response, safety, and training.

The AppalCART benefit package includes health insurance, retirement contribution, paid holidays, vacation leave, and sick leave. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.
