Details for Avery Journal-Times Reporter Position Available

Updated

Mountain Times Publications, centered in Boone, NC, is
looking for a reporter for the Avery Journal-Times, the
Newspaper of Record in Avery County.
We are looking for experience, but if you have a few good tips,
strong organizational skills, are a self-starter, able to pitch a
dozen ideas a week, secure in your ability to take photos and
video and know your way around social media, we want to
meet with you.
Mountain Times Publications is a group of five newspapers,
one magazine, seven websites and regional season publications
that are the newspapers and publications of record in three
High Country counties: Avery, Ashe, and Watauga. While this
position is Avery County-centric, there will be opportunities
to write for each of our newspaper publications, All About
Women magazine and our seasonal tourism products.
At our community newspaper, the reporter will cover a
range of beats and general assignments with an emphasis
on storytelling and feature writing. We seek an energetic,
collaborative team player; a motivated, resourceful self-starter
and a journalist who is committed to accuracy, fairness and
relevancy. Multitasking capability is a must, as the position
requires the ability to juggle multiple print and web deadlines.
The reporter must utilize photography, video, web-based tools
and social media to deliver engaging news content. Candidates
with a combination of experience and demonstrated ability
will be considered.
We are a growing media company with deep roots that values
print and digital markets. Among our benefits are health,
dental, vision and life insurances, a 401(k) and holidays and
vacation pay.
