Laws dating back to the earliest days of our state mandate that legal notices be made public via the most trusted, most consumed and most permanent media source available. And, since those earliest days, that source has been the newspaper of record in the community it serves.

At The Avery Journal-Times, we recognize the responsibility that comes with fulfilling that obligation. After all, public and legal notices are among the most important items you will find in your hometown paper. It is through such notices that the public is made aware of proceedings enacted by our government agencies — proceedings that can allow you to have a voice in rule making before the rules are made.

Because of this responsibility, we’ve recognized as our county’s newspaper of record how important it is for our readers to be able to easily find such information as it appears in the pages of the The Avery Journal-Times. In addition, online readers will find a new “public notices” tab near the top of the home page at www.averyjournal.com.

In terms of daily operations, these are small physical changes. Yet, these are changes of no small significance. Your ability to easily access this vital information is of monumental importance.
